Emulsion

Fogspray Emulsions
A fog spray is a light application of diluted bitumen emulsion that is applied as a maintenance procedure on an existing bituminous surfacing to assist in retaining the aggregates in place, sealing the layer against water ingress or to “rejuvenate” the surfacing when it is showing signs of “dryness” resulting from ageing/hardening of the bitumen.
Low viscosity cationic rapid-set bitumen emulsion.
Low viscosity anionic slow set bitumen emulsion. Diluted with water it is applied onto aged seals as an enrichment spray or as a tack coat for an asphalt overlay.
A quick drying anionic modified emulsion used for fog spray.
Bond Coats
A bond coat is a spray application of bitumen emulsion. It is applied to an existing asphalt or concrete surface prior to a new asphalt overlay or patching. This eliminates slippage planes and provides a better bond between new and existing pavement layers.
Low viscosity anionic slow set bitumen emulsion. Diluted with water it is applied onto aged seals as an enrichment spray or as a tack coat for an asphalt overlay.
A cationic spray grade bitumen emulsion modified with SBR latex. Mainly used for spraying as a bond coat when using integrated paver/spraying machines.
A medium viscosity cationic spray grade bitumen emulsion modified with SBR latex and special additives to warrant enhanced bond strength properties with substrate.
Tack Coats
Cationic rapid-set bitumen emulsion mainly used as a tack coat or penetration spray in the construction of single, double or Cape seals. It is favoured over hot binders when resealing roads in cold/wet climates
A high viscosity cationic spray grade bitumen emulsion modified with 3% or 5% net SBR latex. Mainly used in cold/wet climates for resealing roads with surface cracks without pre-treatment.
Primes
Bituminous priming materials are low viscosity binders that have the ability to penetrate crushed stone, natural gravel and cement or lime stabilised base course materials.
A non-flammable, low viscosity emulsion prime with reduced drying time, formulated with a special blend of Colas emulsifiers.
A blend of medium curing petroleum solvents and penetration grade bitumen. Used for priming newly constructed, crushed stone- or natural gravel base courses prior to surfacing.
An inverted bitumen emulsion manufactured from bitumen and a cutback medium. Specially designed as a prime for non-bituminous bases prior to surfacing.
The product is ideal for priming:
- Natural gravel, crushed stone and stabilized bases.
- Small areas by hand sprayer.
- Damp bases and during inclement weather.
Slurry Emulsions
A low viscosity anionic slow set bitumen emulsion. Mainly used as a cold applied binder for the manufacture of slow set slurry mixtures which can be batch mixed and applied by hand or with a continuous mix and lay machine.
Slow set anionic stable grade bitumen emulsion modified with SBR latex. Used for the manufacture of machine- or hand applied slurry mixtures in areas where traffic accommodation is not a problem. It is also often used to bond geotextile materials to cracked road surfaces.

A specially formulated quick set cationic microsurfacing bitumen emulsion modified with SBR latex for mixing with selected continuously graded crushed aggregate, cement and water by means of a purposely design slurry machine.
A specially formulated medium set cationic microsurfacing bitumen emulsion modified with SBR latex for mixing with selected continuously graded crushed aggregate, cement and water. COLPAVE™ emulsion is specially formulated for mixing in a concrete mixer and applying by hand.
Coldmix Emulsions
A low viscosity cationic medium set bitumen emulsion used for the manufacture of cold asphalt mixes. CMS 60/65 is ideal for manufacturing cold asphalt mixes by hand.
Stabilisation Grade
Emulsions
A low viscosity anionic slow-set bitumen emulsion used as a cold stabilisation agent in emulsion treated bases (ETB).
